Villas in Black River, west coast of Mauritius

There are similarities between the west and north coasts in the sense that both are the expatriates’ favourite regions, with the result that they are both far over-built, and infrastructures getting insufficient. In both regions, the choice of holiday villas on the beach is fairly narrow since the demand for long-term rental is very high. Real-estate values being the highest in these two regions, some villas have been replaced by blocks of apartments.

As compared to the North, the west is more spread-out, with several agglomerations such as Flic-en-Flac, Tamarin, Black River and Le Morne. Yet, it has a lot more green areas, offering great hiking opportunities. Access to sea, in the regions of Black River and Tamarin is fairly limited, which makes the rental of a private beach villa an act of privilege. The Tamarin beach is fairly popular and is a friendly gathering place for expats and Mauritians alike.

The choice of restaurants is certainly not as wide as in the Grand Baie area, but it is more than adequate.
