Google Map API Key TutorialRoches Noires and Poste Lafayette are two purely residential regions, a stone’s throw from each other. As such, they share some characteristics of the east coast of Mauritius, yet they each bear their identity and specificities and may provide fairly different experiences.
The specificity they share is the secluded, quiet and serene atmosphere. Indeed, except for some rare exceptions, the residences and villas are found only on the seaside of the coastal road. This by itself brings wide, open and green landscapes in addition to the amazing sea-views. It is also the reason why there is only very light road-traffic and rare passers-by, allowing quiet strolls along both the beach and the road. It is also the region which, by far, has the highest ratio of public beaches to the number of inhabitants.
To sum-up, the regions of Roches Noires and Poste Lafayette suit those looking for an authentic and peaceful environment with plenty of breathing space
There are, however, two main divergent characteristics:
— While both are on the east coast, Roches-Noires is rather north-facing while Poste Lafayette is facing southeast. The former has wind-sheltered beaches; the latter does not. This is part of the reason why the web is filled with disinformation about the wind condition along the east coast. This issue is covered in our blog dedicated to the east coast.
— The concentration of beach villas in Roches Noires is higher than in the Poste Lafayette region. The latter is certainly the (inhabited) coastal region of Mauritius, where houses and villas have fairly spacious gardens and beach frontage. This explains the fact that beach villas with pools are far more common in Poste Lafayette than in any other region around the coast of Mauritius.
Below is our choice of bungalows and villas located in both Poste Lafayette and Roches Noires. We also propose holiday rentals in the following regions:
— Trou d’Eau Douce (east coast)
