“Peaceful” is probably what best describes Villa Merina. Several factors may contribute to the feeling of well being that prevails in this villa.
Its authentic Mauritian beach house architecture and its thatched roof. Thatch being a very soothing material as it cools insides and attenuates light and sounds. Its location; that part of Mauritius coastline that is coveted by holidaymakers and associated with luxury, has preserved its “edge of the world” character.
The pristine garden sets the tone while the green lawn at the front highlights the shades of Turquoise and Blue from the beautiful lagoon of Belle Mare. The hues are even more fascinating at dawn, especially that the view can be appreciated straight from the bed of the master bedroom that opens onto the veranda.
The region is suitable for several activities.
On the land side, strolls along the beaches or along the relatively quiet road. The area also offers a network of Mountain biking tracks while Golf enthusiasts will find two 18-hole courses within 15-minute drives: The Links and Ile-aux-cerfs.
On the sea side, kitesurfing is possible during part of the year. Kayaking in the large lagoon bordered with mangrove allows the exploration of so many creeks and salt-water basins. For snorkeling it is recommended to go further south, about 10 minutes by car. Motorboat or sailing trips are possible from Trou d’Eau Douce, which is at a mere 15-minute drive away.
Villa Merina is serviced by a cheerfull and attentionate cleaning lady and cook, 6 days a week from 8.30am to 2.00pm. Cooking (service only) of two meals a day is included.
